How to hide photos on iPad
Hide a photo on iPad
- Open Photos and select the photos or videos.
- Tap the More button (•••) and choose Hide.
- Find them again in the sidebar under Utilities → Hidden.
To lock the album, open Settings → Apps → Photos and turn on Use Face ID or Use Touch ID. To remove the album from the sidebar, turn off Show Hidden Album.
If you share the iPad
Family iPads are often shared with one passcode that everyone knows. In that case, the Hidden album protects nothing from the people who use it: they all know the passcode that opens it.
- Turn off Show Hidden Album so it is not obvious.
- Check whether iCloud Photos on the iPad is signed in to your Apple Account. If it is, everyone using the iPad can see your whole library.
- Use a vault with its own credential for anything private. Vaultage runs on iPad, and its vault opens only with the password, PIN, or pattern you set.
- For children, Guided Access keeps them in one app.
iPad and iPhone vaults are separate
A Vaultage vault lives on the device that created it and never syncs. If you use Vaultage on both iPhone and iPad, each has its own vault. To move a vault from one device to another, use an encrypted backup.
